We all miss the library, but a local, well-loved librarian has generously agreed to bring the library to CHC.
This event will be a book chat/book club format for readers. Suggested age range is age 6-11/1st grade+, but most importantly, they must be able to read their book independently and discuss it. The librarian recommends this program for children that can independently read a 100 page chapter book.
Rather than a specific book, the librarian will choose a specific genre or theme of books and make a few suggestions for books in the genre. It is recommended that the child read a book from the librarian's list, though the child can read any book(s) within the genre or theme and bring them to the book chat to discuss the book. For example: if the genre were graphic novels, one child might bring Dogman and another child might bring the graphic novel version of A Wrinkle in Time. The librarian will lead the discussion from there.
October's theme is Not Too Spooky BOOks: The librarian's recommendations are listed on the forum. They may choose another book in the theme of Not Too Spooky if they please. Ms. Missy has reserved many of these books for our group only at the Lone Star library. If you have difficulty getting one of these books, call, email, or ask Missy at Lone Star library to pick up one of the reserved copes for book chat.
This event may be capped! The first 15 children signed up are guaranteed for this event. Please reserve 1 ticket per child who is reading a book and participating in the book club discussions. Please let us know asap if you no longer need your ticket.
**Disclaimer- this event could be canceled or moved if the library resumes in-person programming.
