Each student will choose a person who has positively impacted society that they want to impersonate. They will recite a 1-4-minute narrative about this figure and put together a costume to wear in order to resemble the person.  The following suggested steps will help us all stay on track.

READ

Have your child choose a person who has positively impacted society. You may use the questions below to help your child organize his/her research.

WRITE

The same questions below may be used to help write a paragraph or two from the figure’s point of view (in first person). This will be the speech that will be performed during the live wax museum.

PRACTICE

Children may use notecards to assist them with their 1-4-minute speeches, if they prefer, they can try to memorize them. Your student should be comfortable reciting the speech for other people.

COSTUME

Keep practicing the speech, and make sure the costume is ready to go! Be creative with items you already have around your home.

Questions to guide the research and presentation:

Famous person’s name:

Most Known For:

Birth and Death Dates:

What is important to know about your figure?

Where did your figure learn everything they knew?

Does your figure have any important family members?

Any important events in your figure’s life?

Any interesting facts your audience might like to know?

How did your figure positively impact society?

How is your figure remembered today?

What is important to know about your figure?

What does your figure want?

What is the problem?

How does your figure solve the problem?

How does your figure change over time?

What does your figure look like?

Children are welcome to bring a trifold poster or items to enrich their presentation if they'd like.

This event is museum-style. The children will be assigned a spot to stand and do their presentation as visitors come through the room. Depending on the number of participants, we will assign the children into groups to have an opportunity to take a break from their presentation and visit other characters in the museum.

We are excited to see the final projects! Thanks for your support.

Please provide a song you'd like to be used that goes along with the character being represented. We will use it when we give the certificates of participation.

The tickets for this event are to register as a guest, so we know how many people to expect. However, the children presenting do not need a ticket, they need to be signed-up on this link:
