Let the games begin!
ONE:
Please know that to make this event free of charge, we need ALL HANDS ON DECK. Parents of all participating kids will be assigned a position for the entire time from setting up to end of the event. Some parents will be in charge of a game, and some will chaperone a specific group of kids as they go through the stations. There are two types of tickets for parents: games or chaperone. Please choose one; however, once I have all the age groups formed, I will adjust the volunteer positions as needed; we'll appreciate your flexibility as you might end up in a position different from what you requested. We can NOT guarantee that you will be a chaperone for your children. At any position, either chaperone or games, be aware that you will not be able to be with all of your children all the time through the games. If you are not willing to "miss" seeing your kids during the games, Field Day may not be the type of event for your family.
TWO:
We'll group the kids by age. About 4-6 kids per group, we usually have multiple groups of the same age. Registration to this event has by the kids' age on the date field day takes place, not when you RSVP.
THREE:
The groups will rotate through the games. The teams can start at any game they want; they'll go through the games in the order they please. There is no limit to the length of time they spend at each game or how many times they play one game, but if more teams are waiting at any given game, we ask that the groups who already had a turn, allow other groups to have a turn as well.
NOTE: Field day is for kids who can go around with an adult other than their parent. That gives us the flexibility to assign positions. We understand that younger children might want to have their parents with them at all times. Unfortunately, we can not accommodate all younger kids to have their parent with them during the event.
FOUR:
If parents would like to volunteer to organize a specific game, please comment on the forum which game you would like to be in charge of. https://www.thehomeschoolcouncil.org/forum/field-day
FIVE:
Follow the forum https://www.thehomeschoolcouncil.org/forum/field-day. Updates and assignments will be posted there.
SIX:
To have a succesful event, we will need everyone to arrive by 1:15 so we can assign the kids to their group and start the games by 1:40 PM.
SEVEN:
CHAPERONES: When the teams are done going through the games, we ask the guides to bring their team to the pavilion to get a popsicle and have their group picture taken.
GAMES COORDINATORS: At 3:35, please pick up all the materials we provided for the game and bring them together with the pole with the flag to the check-in area.
EIGHT:
Make sure to bring plenty of water for your kids. We suggest that children carry a waterbottle with them at all times. Children can play in the splash pad and playground after the games!
Thanks for your help!
