Idea Lab Coding: How do our coding programs work? Students start off at their designated level based on age (ie. sparks, inventors, and innovators based on the map below) Students progress through guided lessons. These lessons are at your own pace, with videos and activities. These proprietary modules are designed to reinforce fundamental coding concepts, and demonstrate applications, syntax, and structure. A teacher is dedicated to a room of up to 12 students for technical support as they progress throughout the modules. Answering questions as they come up for each student.

Students that level up through the coding and programming pathway unlock badges as shown below! Frequency/Duration We recommend 1 hour sessions twice a month.  1 hour to ensure students are motivated and engaged. (without burnout) Twice a month to keep fresh in mind, reinforce concepts, and ingrain into long-term memory.

What if my son/daughter is a superstar coder? The pathway reinforce fundamental concepts, so any students that truly understands the material will advance through the pathway quickly.

We don't recommend jumping beyond age level or jumping in between the pathway, because the concepts build on each other. Any gaps will compound and we have seen students lose interest and be overwhelmed because they lack fundamental concepts.

Homeschool Group Considerations

Since classes are self-paced, various ages can be grouped together. (however, we recommend sparks, K-2nd, be separate from 3rd+)

The price will be $15 per session. $30 per two one hour-session a month. (Our traditional price is $150 for four session; or $37/session.)

Path Forward Since students will start off on their pathway based on age, a placement day will not be necessary.  If a student is struggling or excelling beyond norms, our teacher will monitor progress. In advance of the first day, we will need a few pieces of information to get everything set-up. Use the link provided for each month’s payment.
