Please join us for a CHC camping trip to Stephen F. Austin State Park. This park is a 45-50 minute drive from Houston.
General details regarding our visit:
- San Felipe De Austin State Historic Site is a short drive across the street from the state park. We have a visit planned for Friday, Oct. 14. (There will be a separate post for this field trip.)
- The park is set on the Brazos River. This will be a fun place for the kids to check out.
- Sandy is working with the park to set up a guided hike. They are short staffed at the moment but assured that they are looking to hire a ranger that can fill that role. If not, Ashley and Sandy are happy to lead a hike. All hikes are ranked as 'Easy'.
Campsite/Screened Shelter Information:
- Phone number: 979-885-3613
- Fees are $5 daily for ages 13 and up. 12 and under are free. These fees will be paid to the park upon entry by each family, not through CHC.
- Campsites with water, no electric, are $18 per night. 2 cars max, 8 people max.
- Screen shelters with water and electric are $35 per night, 2 tents max, 8 people max, 2 cars max. Sandy and Ashley have reserved screened shelters 001 and 003.
