The $50 a month per child is the price the venue agreed to offer to CHC students. CHC does not handle payments nor reservations for this class.

Tickets to this event on the CHC website are "free" only to monitor if we have the minimum amount of kids required for this class. The venue has a system set up to take payments; parents will have to communicate via email their payment information, or they can do it in person. To set up your account or for more information, email coach Zo to this address: havenmaf@gmail.com

Thanks Ramia for getting this going for CHC!

Haven Jiu Jitsu Academy would like to see the level of interest to open a homeschool class.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) or just Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that focuses on controlling, pinning, and or submitting your training partner or opponent. Conversely, a practitioner of this martial art also learns how to defend and escape a pin or a submission attempt by someone else. Learning jiu-jitsu is not only great for adults, but it is also amazing for kids as well. It helps our children improve their neuro-muscular connections, work on problem-solving, practice teamwork, be goal-oriented, and improve self-confidence.

Class is a lot of fun for children. We work through various drills and exercises individually and as a team. Each hand-picked exercise is designed to improve their general fitness, movement patterns, reactivity, and awareness. Dealing with bullies is something many children experience, and learning martial arts can be especially useful as a self-defense tool in these types of situations. Jiu-jitsu is primarily a non-striking art, in which children learn how to safely neutralize the advances of a bully without bringing much harm to themselves and others. Children attending class will be exposed to different techniques, drills, and scenarios necessary to develop the skills that will assist them in navigating such high-pressure situations.

Classes are hour-long and structured in a way to help each child absorb the most information they can and also practice implementing the skills in a safe and fun way. In general, kids are awarded belt colors based on their accomplishments and participate in belt tests which help them stay focused and understand clearly what skills they need to progress in their jiu-jitsu journey.
